post secrets

so a few months ago a friend of mine told me about a web site where people's secrets were on display for all the world to see as the result of a social experiment! the website is www.postsecrets.com for all u who want to know more about how it got started. the end result is that people from all over the world are divulging their deepest secrets via a post card and the US Postal service to a psychiatrist who lives in Germantown MD. after checking out the site a few times i contacted the gentleman from Germantown and offered to volunteer for an upcoming exhibit. hence the photos! so i helped move these 4' by 6' billboards that the All American Rejects had made for their "Dirty Little Secrets" video. we moved them from Germantown to an old Staples store on M street in Georgetown that has been turned into a museum for local artists thru the Corcoran Gallery. so the display was sponsoring the national domestic abuse hotline as well as the national suicide hotline(whose founder Reese Butler was there and we got to hang out with and learn all kinds of things i didn't know.)

so on display for all to see are postcards with people's secrets written, mostly anonymously. they hung from the ceiling, they hung on clothesline, they were in billboard form on the walls. it was so intriguing. there is a postsecrets book as well now. i would encourage anyone to check it out and the site. it is very cathartic to release long held secrets. at the event i was interviewed by People magazine, and since then I have interviewed with Marie Claire, and USA Today and Oprah are supposed to be contacting me. it's wierd what happens in my world sometimes. who knows why the Lord connects me with the people He does! for now, i must go get back to work!

aren't they cute!

New Years Eve Photos

So out with some of my best girlfriends on New Year's Eve!! We ate at the wonderful Metropolitan downtown Annapolis, where a former classmate of mine is the Executive Chef! The waitress I knew thru a couple degrees of seperation thru friends from high school. I of course saw many people I knew and hadn't seen in quite some time! It was good times. The food was FABULOUS! Afterwards we went downtown to check out some of the fun things around town as well as hit up the Starbucks! Notice the pick that looks like a Starbucks add! That furball is me!! In a beautiful fox fur that someone I absolutely love gave to me! We walked around, laughed at all the sites and SOUNDS! Anyone there knows what I mean!!

It never ceases to amaze me the people that decide since it is a holiday, to go get blitzed out of their mind! I ran into someone down there, who drives an extremely nice car. His friends had disappeared and were not answering their cell phones, and this guy had no way home. While attempting to help him, and offering to take him home and go an hour out of my way instead of going to where my friends were waiting for me, he in his drunken stupor decided to use extremely foul language and be extremely insulting by doing so! I had spoken to this person on one other occasion about using such vulgarity directed at me and let him know it was unacceptable. The alcohol must have caused memory lapse cuz the words came flying out of his mouth. I calmly reitterated that if he used that type of language towards me again, I would leave. He did...so I did. Do people not realize how immature it is to use such language to begin with. It shows a real lack of intelligence and integrity.

Gettin off my soap box now!! After the above incident, we proceeded to go hang out at a friend's house down on the water! It was beautiful, and I ended up having some amazing conversations with people! I had what was by far one of the best conversations I have had in a long time! It was such an awesome way to start out the year! Describing my faith and beliefs to an atheist, while sitting next to someone who I would never have known has a love for the Lord as well! Two great people, one great conversation about the Lord! I was loving it! Totally surprised when the sun started coming up though! It was quite a late evening, early morning, but it was well worth it! I'll be sure to put up more pics from sat as well as Friday evenings events also! Take care all! God bless and Happy New Year!
